Today's Google Doodle celebrates the 114th birthday of tokusatsu legend, Eiji Tsuburaya, best known as a co-creator of Godzilla and creator of Ultra Q and Ultraman.
An animated Eiji Tsuburaya takes you through 10 simple mini games with the goal of producing a tokusatsu movie starring the kaiju-ified Google letters with a brief cameo from Ultraman. Depending on your skills there are two possible outcomes for each mini game which are then stitched together into a mini movie.
Facts about Eiji Tsuburaya:
- Worked on around 250 films over his 50 year career
- Initially wanted to be a pilot but after the closing of the Nippon Flying School worked for a toy company before entering the film business as an assistant cinematographer.
- Legend has it that General MacArthur's film unit mistook the film 'The War at Sea...' as real footage, selling it to Frank Capra for use in a newsreels reporting on the attack on Pearl Harbour.
- Ultraman was the first live-action Japanese television show to be broadcast around the world
